Vintage English Solid Brass Ornate Kitchen Scales & 7 Brass Bell Weights

VINTAGE ENGLISH SOLID BRASS ORNATE KITCHEN SCALES & 7 BRASS BELL WEIGHTS. These stunning and very rare, solid brass kitchen scales are probably well over 100 years old. Sadly there are no historical records for vintage scales so I can only guess at their age. When commercial production started on a big scale frivolous decoration was dispensed with. They do balance but are are a little temperamental so I would envisage them being used for display purposes. Discolouration in the brass bowl. Brass is soft and when potentially corrosive stuff, like salt, is placed in the bowl and not wiped clean a reaction happens and the surface of the brass is affected. Sometimes it can be almost all removed but it rather depends on how long the stuff was left in there.

Every bowl I come across has some similar marks. They are a nice size, 10 1/2 wide and 8 high, not taking up too much room on your worktop.

Brass is very difficult to photograph and there is a lot of reflection. You can be assured they are in excellent unmarked condition. The high quality brass bell weights comprise.... You may be concerned that they have to be sent such a long way but I can assure you there is no need. I use large sturdy boxes and pack all the spaces so they remain rigid.

The scales are wrapped in large bubble wrap and bound with tape so they do not move about. The weights are packed separately also in large bubble wrap.
