Vintage English Oak Ashtray Carved Mouse Folk Art Arts & Crafts Style
Vintage English Oak Ashtray Carved Mouse Folk Art Arts & Crafts Style. A well-made vintage carved oak ashtray featuring a charming hand-carved mouse detail to one corner. The piece is solidly constructed from a single block of oak with a shallow circular ash bowl and four cigarette rests, showing attractive grain patterning throughout. The mouse is carved in relief with a trailing tail and displays clear hand tooling, giving the piece strong Arts & Crafts and folk art character. The combination of natural oak, naïve carving, and animal motif makes this an appealing example of mid-to-late 20th century decorative tobacciana. Wooden ashtray with mouse detail. There is no maker's signature or mark present.

While reminiscent of English Mouseman-style carving, it is offered here strictly as an un-attributed piece and is priced accordingly. Although originally made for use as an ashtray, it also displays very well as a desk tray, trinket dish, or decorative folk-art object, and would suit an Arts & Crafts interior, country house décor, or a collection of vintage smoking-related items. Expected age-related wear including surface marks, light rubbing, and minor tooling irregularities consistent with hand carving.

No cracks or repairs noted. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which form part of the description. No attribution to Robert Thompson or the Kilburn Mouseman workshop is implied.
