A beautifully illustrated first edition of this natural history of the Hampshire village of Selborne by Rev. Published: 1861 - London - Henry G. 7" by 4.5", xxiv, 416 pages plus plates. Featuring 40 engraved coloured plates. With additions and supplementary notes by Sir William Jardine. Edited, with further illustrations, a biographical sketch of the author, and a complete index by Edward Jesse'. Inner and outer borders gilt, spine gilt in beautiful Victorian Design, boards with gilt and all edges gilt. This book is in nearly Perfect Condition. The pages feel like they were never opened and the Binding and Gilt is very good condition as well.

Gilbert White FRS (18 July 1720 - 26 June 1793) was a "parson-naturalist", a pioneering English naturalist and ornithologist. He remained unmarried and a curate all his life.
