Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Vintage 1930s Wooden English Oak Carving Panel Wall Art Sampler Rustic Decor. DESCRIPTION Vintage large English wooden art sculpture sampler.

Dating to the 1930's this carved art work is a sample of a wood workers abilities and most likely a token of love. It depicts a ladies head in the center, two angels on the top corners and a swan and a squirrel on the bottom corners. The left hand side depicts nationalistic images of oak tree and the depiction of St George slaying the dragon. The right hand side depicts a classical Roman figure displaying an abundance of provision and therefore wealth. This has all the appearances of a love token pledge which displays the suitors ability to work with his hands, illustrate his intentions of providing for his intended and his patriotic appreciation of his countries historical wealth.

This archaic style of wood working was an homage to the medieval work in England that was being revived between the wars. This would make a great addition to any wine cellar, dining room or kitchen area as an accent piece.

Signed on the reverse: HCW 1932 A perfect addition to your craftsman style home decor. This would make a wonderful early housewarming or birthday gift idea. MEASUREMENTS This artwork measures 37" long by 11.5" wide by 1 deep and weighs 6lb 15oz. CONDITION The art work is in good solid condition, ready to display.

There are three surface cracks along the chamfered edge but do not detract structurally or aesthetically from the piece (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
