The Works of the Bronte Sisters 1893 Vintage Antique Set Wuthering Heights

A stunning finely-bound set of works by the sisters Bronte in ten volumes, bound as 5, accompanied by wonderful black and white illustrations and vignettes by H. The set is incomplete, missing Jane Eyre, but includes other fabulous titles such as Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Dent is decorated in celebration of the Bronte sisters' everlasting popularity and status as some of the most talented novelists in the English literary canon. Consisting of Shirley (2 in 1), Tenant of Wildfell Hall (2 in 1), The Professor and Poems (2 in 1), Agnes Grey and Wuthering Heights (2 in 1), and Villette (2 in 1). In very good condition with very light wear to the edges, corners, hinges and spine ends.

Some tissue guards are missing, one plate in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is beginning to loosen, and there is tanning and light foxing to a few preliminary pages. Generally very clean and tightly bound with beautiful illustrations, added sparingly to avoid distracting the reader from the prose.

Half-bound in fawn calf with marbled boards, marbled endpapers, and a fully marbled edge. Much of the marbled effects on this set is gilt-detailed. The spines feature 5 raised bands between gilt-decorated compartments, and gilt-titled labels of differing brown tones. Please note that Villette is dated 1895.
