Paul's Friend: A Story for Children and the Childlike. Walter Smith and Innes, London. Gilt titles set on black leather label on the spine, with ornate gilt decoration and raised bands along the spine length. Gilt rectangular borders on front and rear. 16 black & white illustrated plates. 155 mm x 200 mm x 28 mm. Prize label pasted to the front endpaper. The Girls' School Company Limited and reads, "Class: Form IV, 1st Prize to Helen Easton". Easton is also stamped on the front flyleaf. Good vintage condition, with signs of ageing and shelf-wear to the covers. Pages are lightly tanned but clean. Text and illustrations are clear and unannotated. Prize label and small bookseller label attached to the front pastedown. Front hinge is cracked but binding remains tight, with all pages and covers firmly attached. Printed name on the front flyleaf. Faint foxing on preliminaries, end pages and on occasional page margins but content is generally clear. Generally good but with signs of wear. Titles and decorations are clear and bright. Corners and spine ends are rubbed.
Light rubbing and scuffing to spine extremities. Slight sunning to the spine and front upper edge. Scuffing and scratching on the leather surfaces on front and rear.
