LUDWIG'S DICTIONARY English German 2 Volumes Leather 1813 Antique Vintage Boosey

A New Dictionary of the English and German Languages. Published by Boosey 1813 in two volumes. Boosey was one of the earliest established booksellers in London and his firm eventually merged into Boosey and Hawkes in the 20th Century. Leather bound in polished calf.

A very early substantial English - German, German English Dictionary. English - German 992 columns (two columns to a page although text pages are numbered as one). German - English 730+ columns. Beautifully bound in original polished calf.

There is some loss to the spine of volume 2 and there are some cracks between the boards and the spines but overall internally both books remain very tight. There some expected age related spotting to the pages - again shown in photos. A LOVELY VERY EARLY 19th CENTURY (NINETEENTH CENTURY). ENGLISH - GERMAN, GERMAN - ENGLISH DICTIONARY. Dimensions approx 21.5cm height x 13.5cm width x 5.5cm depth (the two volumes combined).

At the time of listing there was other copy for sale that I could find on any site worldwide. This is a beautiful set and would make a substantial present gift or display item. Perfect also for historical research into the state of the two languages at the time and possible resale.
