We are offering for sale a fine English Antique Letter Opener. Very unique, hand crafted Antique item. The blade is made from smooth polished cow horn shaped to a point. The handle is made from a stag (deer) foot and it has dark ebony and bovine bone fittings, the bone fixture joining the handle and blade ornately carved into petal shapes with the greatest attention to detail. The hoof is covered at the base with a layer of bone.
The animal parts in this letter opener are all free from restrictions and are not listed within the cites appendix, it is made from bovine bone, cow horn from the Highland cow and common red deer. Overall this letter opener is in VERY GOOD CONDITION, with no notable damage of any kind, just normal wear that would be found on a piece of this age. We estimate the approximate circa Early Victorian era c1850's.This piece measures 12" length and 1" width.
