Antique Georgian English Pin Book, c. 1830s

This beautiful piece has been in my sewing collection since 2019. This came from the English dealer.

The back and front covers are likely cardboard that's covered in a gorgeous purple silk brocade. To add contrast, the creator trimmed in emerald green silk.

The book measures 2.5 by 2 inches. It's 3/4 thick when closed. The front cover has what looks like 2 tiny cream threads peaking through the purple. Inside the front cover is an ivory silk brocade hand stitched with a leaf/ vine design. There are 4 graduated pages, also stitched in green, that are wool.

They have been cut with pinking sheers to prevent fraying. Three of the pages have holes.

The last page still has a needle inserted, and the perimeter of the book still has a few straight pins stuck in it. I have displayed this piece in my smoke free home, away from direct sunlight, behind glass.
