Vintage Rhubarb Forcer Lidded Terracotta Enforcer

A large, vintage heavy gauge terracotta rhubarb forcer. Beautiful wear and natural weathering, with original lid. Excellent condition, no cracks or frost damage, areas of loss and nibbles to the lid.

Still fit for its original purpose or makes an excellent decorative garden ornament. Used to cover rhubarb to limit photosynthesis, they encourage the plant to grow early in the season and also to produce blanched stems.

The pots are placed over rhubarb crowns during winter or very early spring. Once shoots appear the lid is taken off, causing them to grow towards the light. You can arrange your own courier but they will have to provide packing. This way the courier will be liable for any damage.
